Fiera del Cacio (Cheese Fair)

Every first weekend of September and the days before, Pienza celebrates the product par excellence of the city, renowned throughout the world: the Pecorino cheese. Tastings, meetings with farmers and the “Cacio al Fuso” competition characterize this initiative. The competition takes place in the beautiful Piazza Pio II, and the aim is to roll a cheese as close as possible to a spindle, where several rings mark the score. The district among the six of the city that manages to get more points is declared the winner.
